Dolphins Into The Future - Voyage Shopibo Coast, Pacific City
another tape from the belgian dolphins, released by Ferraro’s Pacific City in 2008 previously as a c40 and then as a cdr. i don’t think it needs any particular introduction, except that maybe some of the material in here is closer to, say, Vodka Soap than what we were used to. when you go through a five minutes track based on a 1 second bells sample you know you’re in for some quality time.
in other news: i guess this is gonna be the last upload for a while. nothing particular happening except maybe a couple of idiots dancing polka and a general lack of motivation, a feeling akin to a common what the fuck am i doing here, using my time to the service of what exactly, to the percentage benefit of, well, let’s not go there.
i’ll spare all of you a final declaration of sort cos i really do not want to be misinterpreted or misunderstood in any way. blood goes stale because of idiots only if you allow and no, thanks, i’ll pass on that. suffice to say it has been fun: and most of the stuff you grabbed from here is so easy to replicate with five dollars equipment and a bit of fantasy i’m somehow left to wonder why the damn isn’t anyone going all the way and flood the planet with impossible walkman manglings and c∞ of subcortical damaged weird age, instead of anxiously searching and waiting for the latest forum buzz and distros description sensation.
i’ll retreat in the userlist only privacy of my own fuck-abode and wave aloha to all the rest. so far, so good. that’s all, folks.
Time Life - Drumlins & Geminis
as i’ve already noted before when posting another work of theirs, Time Life is the duo of Nonhorse (G Lucas Crane) and Heidi Diehl (Vanishing Voice and a bunch of other projects). these are respectively a 7” released by Not Not Fun in 2007 and a cdr released by Blackest Rainbow during the same year. if you grabbed the other one you know what to expect, if you don’t downloading and having a listen surely won’t harm you.
VA - Like A Frog In Winter 1 & 2
curiously named after a line from a Primo Levi poem, there goes a heavy weight compilation assembled and released by Hospital Productions in 2008. i only got it yesterday and so i still have to go through all of it, so i’ll just throw down a list of participants for you to decide: ffh, a fail association, immaculate:grotesque, cleanse, pedestrian deposit, chrysalis, ahlzagailzehguh, habeeb, craniopagus, alberich, bereft, barrikad, prurient, sewer election, panicsville, filthy turd, omei, the seven arts, age of enlightenment, mark solotroff, whorebutcher, climax denial, stegm, burden. enjoy.
Dolphins Into The Future - Plays Themes From Voyage
happy to be posting some more Dolphins, some more (sample based?) squirmy new age from the land of old batteries and jungle ballets. sounding crisper than most of his old recordings, this c30 was released by Skulls Of Heaven in 2008. go ahead!
Mariska Baars / Wouter van Veldhoven / Rutger Zuydervelt - Zeeg
another request; Borxes was looking for this one quite some time ago: i finally stumbled upon a rip, and there we go. turns out it wasn’t, damn! it’s actually just one long track, a smooth 37 minutes pastoral impro, recorded in July, 2007 and released by Digitalis in the October of the same year as a cd-r.
Bobb Bruno - White Lover’s Dream House
request filling today, apparently: if you check his website, you realize how many recordings has this guy been involved with. in spite of this, his solo output under his own name is scarce at best. this c20 has been released by Arbor in 2007 and sounds like post rock tinged mellow warm psychedelic drone, maybe, or maybe i should hire somebody who can actually write about music! one more Bobb Bruno thing coming in the next days, stay tuned if you like this.
and this is about the last Skin Crime rip i was able to find, so, there it is: a 60, released by italian label Less Than Zero in 1996 and consisting mostly of live recordings, edited and patched back. enjoy.
hope you all had nice celebrations going - i’m in no way a new year devotee nor a party animal, but i occasionally re-read Hakim Bey and agree! so let’s start this bundle of days with something nice, a very recent Nonhorse tape released by Baked Tapes in 2008: one hour worth of tape lull, very beautiful. remember to grab both parts of the archive or it won’t work. enjoy!
as far as i know this is the first solo work for James Ferraro related Labanna Bly - the name stands for Pre Atlantean Ritual Artefacts and the music is, well, moan-core meeting skaters-warble while end of the 90s microsound glitch tracks play in the background or occasionally solo through a Fisher price taiwanese replica. or something similar, maybe peking opera cuts looping through faulty reverb and tame feedback shrieks - and it’s recorded better than the average, but this stuff still lacks basses in my opinion - anyway. Olde English Spelling Bee re-released this as a 12” in 2008 from a previous no label cdr edition. and, this is going to be the last post for 2008 - have a happy new year and enjoy.
Skin Crime - Genital Modification
more Skin Crime - i haven’t been listening to this in a while (actually brought it back from dusty backup discs) and somehow it’s too early in the morning to be doing it now, so i have little to write about it - c46 released by G.R.O.S.S. in 1995, have fun!
