Jay Sullivan - Gone To Ground
probably because i’m going through the slow process of ripping some of my old Hands To/AARC/Domaine Poetique cassettes these last days but i’ve been listening to a lof of Jeph Jerman, sideways thinking about the huge monument to human perception that his works represents - well, this tape here has some correlations: released on Deep Fried Tapes in 2007, it comes with a dedication to Jerman and offers two side long tracks, mostly sourced from seemingly looped lo-res wind against the microphone field recordings - one of the tracks featuring what sounds like an harmonium or battery powered toy organ or who knows really. i’ve enjoyed it a lot, especially the pure nature flipside, so to speak. this kind of stuff was all the rage when i was younger, i have to admit, and i’m always in for a wee time machine stroll! it’s no Hands To for sure but well worth a couple of listenings.
